Lasius umbratus
Hello ! I from Poland I want to keep a diary here.
I will be here to keep a diary of my Lasius umbratus colony. Let me start from the beginning
I caught the queen in July 2016, I added a lot of her pupa and a few Lasius niger workers, then I moved the colony to the fortification, the first lasius umbratus workers appeared, the colony was developing, in 2017 I added a few more thousands of lasius niger pupa.
Photos in the order from the beginning to the condition from a few months ago

Re: Lasius umbratus
hmmm... they eat a lot, but not as much as it seems.
I would just like to add that I feed them with honey, crickets and meal and meat

Re: Lasius umbratus
What a beautiful colony! It seems really healthy!
The Lasius niger workers are still more than the Lasius umbratus ones or now there is the same number of workers for both the species?

Re: Lasius umbratus
Thanks
There are definitely more workers Lasius niger. The workers of Lasius umbratus care for larvae and pupae
They also like to take up protein food.
